Those Difficult People: Getting Control

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we lived in a world where everyone does what they are supposed to do, when they are supposed to do, and the way WE want it done? Unfortunately, that is rarely a reality, especially in today’s dynamic, fast-paced world. Vendors who over-promise and under-deliver, physicians and attorneys who don’t return phone calls, and colleagues that don’t follow through can leave even the most patient legal nurse consultant disappointed and frustrated.

In this high-impact, interactive session, Jan Spence will share the warning signs you are dealing with a “difficult” person and provide a different approach to making your interactions more meaningful and successful. Participants will leave with immediate, actionable tools they can use to set boundaries, maintain a more positive outlook, and ultimately be more productive when faced with challenging individuals.

Jan Spence BA CSP

After Jan presented at our 1st LNC Success virtual conference, attendees asked for more of Jan. We invited her back to delight you. Jan is a true innovator. She began her sales career at age ten selling donuts for summer camp. She then sold vacuum cleaners door-to-door and then consulted with national accounts such as Wal-Mart, Pillsbury, and Frito-Lay. Jan now helps individuals and companies to grow their businesses through sales training and speaking. Jan is the CEO of Jan Spence and Associates and a Certified Speaking Professional.

Report Writing Biggest Mistakes

How do you stand out from the crowd? Attorneys judge you based on your work product. Are you making mistakes that hurt your reputation and ability to get repeat business? Or are you acing it every time?

Learn from an expert who has written thousands of reports. These shortcuts will help you build your business.

Pat Iyer MSN RN LNCC

Pat began her career as an LNC in 1987. Starting with her first expert witness report, she’s since written thousands of screening reports, chronologies, expert witness, expert fact witness, analysis and other kinds of reports. Pat is a past president of AALNC and the author or editor of 49 books, primarily for LNCs and attorneys.

How to Win More Clients

You know your LNC business like no one else. The problem is that it’s not enough to just be good at what you do. When a business fails, it’s often because it wasn’t organized to run or grow efficiently. Thanks to new technology, you can concentrate on your strengths and let new tools help you get organized and take care of the steps that will make you successful.

  • How can you do better at “speed to lead”?Getting the new contact in your business system in record time allows you to follow up with them better.
  • Make it easy for your customer to contact youand schedule time with you. If it’s as easy as clicking on a button, it will happen more often.
  • Stay in touch and you’ll be “top of mind”.If you are providing a real solution, your audience wants to hear from you more often.

The best part is that, while marketing and sales can be overwhelming, tools are available that make it easier than ever before.  It now can happen in seconds, not days. Darin shares tips to accomplish these goals in this fast-paced session.

Darin Adams

Darin Adams is an award-winning marketing expert who has coached thousands of businesses how to build connections with their audiences.  All success starts with relationships; he has taught people all around the world how to build those relationships through automation.  Now he’s here to show you how you can get organized, get customers, and get paid.

The 4 Ds: Drinking, Drugging, and Driving = Disaster

With the increase in drug and alcohol use in the country, and decriminalization of DUI/marijuana, there is more tolerance of these drugs and fewer penalties. Drinking, drugging, and driving leads to motor vehicle accidents and to cases that require the skills of toxicologists and LNCs. How do legal nurse consultants interpret all of the data? How can LNCs help? Help us solve the puzzle of a case scenario. You are the detective - what information do you need?

David Benjamin PhD

David M. Benjamin is a Ph.D. A trained Clinical Pharmacologist & Forensic Toxicologist, a trained arbitrator, mediator, and nationally-recognized scholar in Legal Medicine, Reducing Medication Errors, the Drug Development process, and Forensic Toxicology. He teaches Forensic Toxicology at Northeastern University School of Pharmacy where he holds the rank of Affiliate Associate Professor and teaches Legal Medicine at Tufts Medical School.  He is a prolific author with more than 250 presentations and publications.

How to Prove Damages

How do you prove the extent of a plaintiff’s injuries? Each side of the case has a different agenda. The plaintiff attorney wants to invest resources in demonstrating the permanence and impact of the trauma. These cases will be the big winners. The defense wants to disprove causation and the extent of the harm to minimize payments.

What makes a case valuable for either side and how does the legal nurse consultant help the attorney prove or dispute damages?

Samuel Davis Esq of Davis Saperstein and Salomon

Sam Davis is admitted to the New Jersey Bar, The District of Columbia Bar, The Federal Bar and United States Supreme Court Bar. Sam Davis has also been certified by the Supreme Court of the State of New Jersey as a Certified Civil Trial Attorney.

As the original founding partner of Davis, Saperstein & Salomon, P.C., Sam Davis has represented thousands of clients who have suffered personal injuries. He founded the Burn Advocates Network, which created specialized burn camps for kids in Israel, India, Haiti, and Brazil.

Was There Pain and Suffering?

What exactly is pain and suffering? Can a plaintiff testify about pain and suffering? Most attorneys and experts know the quality of explanations is high when a physician or nursing expert gets involved. What does a physician look for in the medical records to establish if there was pain and suffering? How is that the same or different from how an LNC evaluates the medical records? In this fast-paced interview, Dr. Salgo will pull back the curtain on this hot topic.

Peter Salgo MD
Peter Salgo MD is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Anesthesiology. He serves on the staff of New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University where he is an Intensivist, Anesthesiologist and Professor of Anesthesiology at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Salgo is an Associate Director of the Surgical ICU.

How to Get Known, Get Found, and Get Paid!

The most successful professional independent consultants market and sell brands, plain & simple.  Establishing a profitable brand can make or break your business.  However, as a legal nurse consultant, standing out in a sea of perceived-to-be-the-same-or-similar nurses can seem a bit challenging and overwhelming. You want to set yourself apart, but you aren’t sure how.  And you want your online marketing to work, yet your resources are slim. Exhale! It is time for you to get known, get found, and get paid like never before.

Gerry Foster MBA BS

The Role of the LNC in Defense Cases

What happens in litigated claims when the LNC works with the claims adjuster and defense counsel? Because litigated claims often involve complex medical issues and complicated injury information, the LNC's role is to provide the defense team with a deeper analysis and understanding of the injury data points and how they work strategically in the case.

While the LNC's work product will vary, e.g., a chronology or timeline, or information to assist with a line of questioning, all roads lead to the Mechanism of Injury (MOI). Analysis of the medical data points and how they do, or do not align with the MOI is a crucial part of the defense work up.  This presentation will take a deep dive into MOI and how a sound analysis will help build a strong defense case.
